Changelings
Changelings are subtle shapeshifters capable of disguising their appearance. The changelings were a race created by mages from the blood of doppelgangers in Orenia as a means of infiltrating other nations. They do not possess the full shapechanging ability of a doppelganger, but they can create effective disguises at will. Their shapeshifting ability make them effective spies and informants, though their loyalties aren't always secure with the empire they hail from.
Changelings strongly resemble their human lineage, with only a passing nod to their doppelganger heritage. Unlike true doppelgangers, changelings do have gender in their natural form, although they can adopt any shape they like. Their faces have slightly more distinct features than a doppelganger’s, including a nose and lips, though their eyes remain blank white and the rest of their facial features don’t look quite as defined as those on a human.
